Frequently Asked Questions

Ordering

  • How do I order?

To get a quote or to place an order you can either visit the page for the type of product you want to order and fill out the relevant order enquiry form, or you can email thesunflowerpatisserie@gmail.com. If emailing please be sure to include the date required, the no. of portions needed/size needed and any design specifics.

  • How much notice do you need?

As much as possible! It is never too early to get booked in. Weekend slots are often fully booked a month or more in advance, however my minimum recommended ordering times are as follows:

- Cupcake bouquets, simple cupcakes, Tray Treats and Pizza Cakes - Minimum 3 days notice

- Dessert cakes - Minimum 1 week notice

- Celebration cakes - Minimum 2 weeks notice

- Wedding cakes - Minimum 6 weeks notice

Don't worry if you've left it a little late, send me an email with the date needed, no. of servings required and what you are ideally looking for, and I can check if I have any late notice availability.

Payment

  • When do I need to pay?

All orders (except weddings) need to be secured with a 50% non-refundable booking fee. The remaining balance is due 14 days before your collection/delivery date. If ordering with less than 14 days notice, full payment is required on booking. Wedding cakes are secured with a £100 non-refundable booking fee, with the balance due 4 weeks before the wedding.

  • What payment methods do you accept?

Payments can be made by bank transfer or online card payment. I am no longer able to accept cash and cheques. Once the details of your order have been agreed you will be sent an invoice with full payment details.

Collections and Deliveries

  • How do I collect my order?

All collections are from Hampton Vale, Peterborough (full address will be given on invoice). A collection slot will be agreed on ordering. Collection slots are typically as follows:

Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday - 9am-10am or 5pm-7pm

Tuesday and Thursday - 9am-10am, evening times are sometimes available

Should none of these times be suitable for you, it may be possible to arrange an alternative slot

  • Can you deliver to me?

Yes, it is possible for me to deliver, subject to availability, within Peterborough and the surrounding area. If you require delivery please try to book with as much notice as possible. When enquiring please make sure to include the full delivery address and any restrictions there may be on delivery times. We will then be in touch to confirm availability and delivery cost

  • How should I transport my cake?

Cakes should be transported flat in an empty car boot or in the front footwell if the space is large enough. It is not advised to transport cakes on car seats as they are rarely flat enough and can cause cakes and decorations to tip or slide. The car should be kept cool and cakes should never be left in the car for any length of time.

  • How should I store my cake?

Most cakes should be stored at a cool room temperature. In the event of warm weather, it may be necessary to keep buttercream finish cakes in the fridge until around an hour before eating. Storage information specific to your order will be given at the time time collection/delivery.
